POPPY’S PLACE AT MAMA JANE’S
James Nicholas Hock, Sr. passed away on November 8, 2019. And while our hearts are heavy we are comforted in knowing that he no longer suffers and is at peace. In his final days, he looked forward to seeing his Mom, Dad and his brother Freddie in heaven but most importantly, his dear grandson, Scott.
Our beloved “Poppy” was loved by all. He was one of the biggest supporters of Scott’s Legacy. Whenever we saw him, he would pull out his wallet to donate funds for a chicken or a pair of shoes and even a toilet at NASA School that he named “Rosebud.” He was a big believer in learning as he worked double shifts to provide his 7 children with great educations. He proudly sponsored a child’s education in Tanzania.
In lieu of flowers, Poppy asked that we make a donation to the Scott Willis Legacy Foundation. Scott’s Legacy raised the funds to build a much needed dorm for the older boys at Mama Jane’s Orphanage in Africa. “Poppy’s Place at Mama Jane’s” was dedicated in his memory during our visit in 2023. The dorm is located at the edge of Scott’s Courtyard named in memory of his grandson and overlooks Wyatt’s Garden, named in honor of his great-grandson.
